1998: One Classy Party
Aimee Calabrese

Leslie Charleson held her annual East Coast Fan Club Luncheon on June 13th, 1998, at a new site this year, the Rihga Royal Hotel. The luncheon took place on the 54th floor in a room with a view of the city. Unfortunately, the weather did not agree and the foggy, overcast day shattered any chance of that happening. But that did not phase the intimate gathering of fans that attended. They were much too distracted by what was going on inside to even notice.

Before sitting down in the main room, fans had a chance to walk around and browse the Quartermaine memorabilia that was laid out. One table consisted of items such as pictures of Leslie, Stuart, and the rest of the Qs; t-shirts; mousepads; key chains; etc. that the fans were able to purchase. Another table contained items that would be part of a raffle later on in the afternoon. Wardrobe garments and autographed scripts were just some of the things that decorated the table.

After fans mingled and enjoyed cocktails, it was time to find their seats. Krista, one of the co-presidents of the fan club, took over as MC and introduced the guest of honor.

Leslie made her entrance and graciously greeted the crowd. She looked beautiful and radiant. After she said a few words to the room as a whole, she made a point to go around to each individual table and talk to the fans. She was so warm and personable. It was evident she knew how to take care of her fans.

Next, after lunch was served, it was time for the question and answer session. Leslie was posed with a variety of questions that she answered honestly, smartly, and with humor. She even let the audience participate in some of the answers. One thing that was very noticeable is Leslie, more so than her alter-ego "Monica", has a wonderful sense of humor.

After that it was time for the raffle. Leslie kept a running commentary going while she raffled off each item. Hearing her remarks and little tidbits only made it that much more enjoyable and entertaining.

When that was over, there was still time left for fans to get autographs and pictures with Leslie. I have to say this event was extremely well organized and my hat goes off to Ms. Charleson, Kay, Krista, Phyllis, and Ang. They all did a fabulous job to make this even so special! Leslie Charleson is a very classy lady and so was this party!
