The Russian Tea Room in New York City was the site of a very special Second Annual Leslie Charleson Fan Club Extravaganza. On June 10, 1995, 75 of Leslie's super club members were treated to an afternoon of a beautiful setting, good food and the company of the gracious and entertaining Leslie Charleson.
In my many years of frequent travel, I have met many famous actors, actresses and sports celebrities. Never have I met a more sincere or caring celebrity than this classy lady! My older daughter, Stephanie, and I had met Leslie last summer in California. After that meeting I could hardly wait for my younger daughter to meet this special actress.
When we boarded the train to New York, Gretchen was as excited as I was. By the time the luncheon started and Leslie was introduced, that excitement and my enthusiasm had spread, not only to Gretchen but to everyone else in the room. Super Monica memorabilia was raffled off and a beautiful breast cancer awareness pin was given to each fan. Leslie answered everyone's questions and told many GH stories. It really was fun listening to Monica and Alan tales, as well as Leslie and Stuart stories.
When the luncheon ended, Gretchen's comments matched mind. Not only is Leslie a superb actress, she is an exceptional person. Her fans are important to her and she stayed until each and every one had their picture and autograph. KUDOS to Kay Marrs and Krista Evans for a fantastic luncheon. With the help of Phyllis Marrs, the afternoon was a huge success. My recommendation to all of Leslie's fans -- Plan your 1996 vacation around Leslie's next fan club luncheon and a trip to New York City. It will be one of the most enjoyable and memorable times of your life.
