As a new member of Leslie's Fan Club, I could hardly wait to attend her luncheon/fashion show on May 21st. Now I can hardly wait until next year's event.
The day started out with a great Silent Auction. There were so many items to bid on - everything from television scripts (I won GH's) to clothing to gift baskets to toys to jewelry to art work. Amy even donated three gorgeous outfits from her real-life collection, Lacey Afternoon.
Imagine my surprise when we entered the banquet room filled with beautiful centerpieces (which were raffled off), balloons and super gift bags full of goodies for each person. The meal was superb, especially dessert! After lunch there was a lively auction with great gifts, including a day at the set and lunch with Leslie.
Then the fun really began! It was very obvious that each actress and actor enjoyed the fashion show as much as the audience. The ladies clothing included business suits, fatigues, minidresses, casual wear, as well as short and long formal gowns. The gentlemen were dressed for play, for work, for formal and even slightly less dressed.
Imagine AJ in a sleeveless vest with his great build, and Bobbie in a red, hot mini-dress. Gail and Lee looking ever so fashionable in everything they wore. Brenda in fatigue pants with her combat boots one minute and the next in a sleek, sexy black mini-dress. Mac, shirtless with a great body, chained and whipped by Julia. AJ formally attired romancing Gail with champagne while Ned just waits for his opportunity to steal her away. Scotty (with a mustache) roped and tied by Rhonda. Audrey, Simone, Meg, Remmy and Carla looking beautiful in everything they wore. The debonair Alan, elegantly dancing with Gail, then prancing back up the stage with her hatbox.
And what an appropriate ending -- another unusual wedding scene. Formal black tuxedos for the gentlemen and beautiful pastel mini-dresses for the ladies. Lee (as best man) in a white tux and Gail (as matron of honor) in a white suit. Then Monica and Alan, both formally dressed in black! After all, how many times have we thought their marriage was dead?
Leslie came out into the lobby after the show to meet some of her fans. I was lucky enough to be there, camera in hand, What a fantastic day this was for me, and my daughter!
To all of Leslie's fans -- try not to miss next year's event. I'll see you there!
