I was fortunate enough to be able to attend the GH Party this year. Again it was at the Sportsman Lodge and started at 8:00 a.m. with check in. The fans then got a chance to browse around all the tables setup to purchase pictures and other memorabilia before they went into the room.
Leslie's booth was outstanding again this year with great new pictures and a new T-shirt with the "Wanted Poster" stamped on it, which was a huge hit. While talking with other fans I was glad to hear even some of the Sonny fans say that they wished the show focused on the entire cast and not just a select few. Now if only Brian Frons would listen!
At 10:00 AM we made our way in to find our table #39. This year at the table with me were; Anita, Lori, Lesley, Julie, and Chrissy...all wearing our "Want to be Monica" T-shirts. We had a lot of fun talking with the other fans at our table. Prior to the introduction of the actors, the raffle and auction prizes were announced.
Then it was time for the real party to begin. Again this year, John Ingle did the honors of introducing each actor. Of course, when Leslie was introduced we made our presence known, as usual. The best part of the introduction, were the sly comments that John slid in. When introducing Maurice Bernard he referred to him as the hardest working actor since he never takes a vacation and is on everyday. Steve Burton was introduced and John said "If Steve is not on your TV it must be a commercial."
This year they did not have a question and answer portion but instead, we were treated to two surprise guests whom were brought in to commemorate the 40th anniversary of GH. The WSB was called in with John Reilly and Tristian Rogers making a surprise appearance. One other thing that I remember is Steve Burton going to the podium to remind and thank GH's history. "If it was not for the history of the Quartermaines, Hardys, Spencers, and Scorpios we would not have a job today." I felt that was a great statement to come from one of the actors in the "Fab Four" group.
After this the actors made their way to the tables for autographs and pictures with the fans. We all wore our "Want to be Monica" shirts with pride and hope that the right people saw them. GH is just not the same with out our "Goddess and Prince" in a front burner story.
Hopefully next year with the cancellation of Port Charles the GH weekend will be moved back to July and more of you will be able to attend when it is not so close to back to school time. I encourage everyone to write, call, and do whatever else you can think of to make TPTB hear what we want - "MORE MONICA, DAMMIT"
